Upon inspection of a recently received playground mulch delivery, what appears to be blue paint was observed on the supplier's engineered wood fiber. Out of an abundance of caution, the park playgrounds with this mulch are closed until the mulch's compliance with all applicable regulatory and safety standards is confirmed and the source of the blue paint understood. The District has no information to suggest that there has been any risk to health or safety for prior users of the park facilities. The District will reopen the park facilities after it completes its investigation. Based on the results, the District will replace the mulch if it is not completely satisfied with the quality of the mulch materials .

Dear Brushy Creek MUD residents,
The District is conducting an audit of the
playground mulch supplier records and has not received a certification of
compliance for the mulch applied at the following playgrounds: Community Center
Park, Creekside Park, Highland Horizon Park, Little Village Park, North Park,
Pepper Rock Park, Racine Woods Park, Sendero Valley Park, and Shirley McDonald
Park.
These playgrounds are temporarily closed
until the audit is complete. The District is proactively coordinating the
potential replacement of the mulch in the event that the supplier does not
provide certification of compliance in a timely manner.
We understand that this may be an
inconvenience to families, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and
understanding. Our goal is to complete this work as quickly as possible while
ensuring it is done correctly and safely. We will continue to update this page
as timelines and details become available.
The mulch at Cat Hollow
Park and Sendero Springs Park is confirmed compliant, and these
playgrounds remain open and available.
Brushy Creek MUD is committed to
maintaining the high standards our community expects and deserves. We thank you
for your continued support as we take every measure to resolve this issue
responsibly and with the community’s best interest at heart.
